3. Sheriff Department Update |
|
Sheriff Johnson informed the Committee of the recent activities in the department. The Committee inquired about the details of a repair bill for a snowmobile. Finance Committee will explore this issue further at their next meeting. |
|
|
|
The Sheriff informed the Committee about a repair needed on one of the Marine Patrol boats. |
|
|
|
The Sheriff indicated the heating and air handling system in the animal shelter is still not working correctly. Mr. Garwood will contact the architect and mechanical engineer on this issue. |
|
|
|
The Sheriff informed the Committee that Todd Rawlings has been heading up the jail while Lou Basso is off on leave. |
|
|
|
4. Emergency Services |
|
Carl Goeman, Emergency Services Coordinator indicated he would like to hold off on the resolution regarding collaboration on how the counties handle emergencies in Region 7. The issue will be placed on the Committee’s agenda for next month. |

|
5. Region 7 Homeland Security – Regional Dispatch |
|
Carl Goeman informed the Committee about the effort to investigate a regional dispatch. |
|

|
Motion by Bernie Blackmore, supported by Dave Howelman, to recommend the Board of Commissioners approve the inclusion of Antrim County in the Region 7 dispatch study, as long as there is no cost to the County. Motion Carried – Unanimous. |

|
6. Circuit Court Budget |
|
Teri Quinn, Circuit Court Administrator joined the meeting and presented the budget request for the Circuit Court. The proposed budget included an audio recording system, a flat screen television and a presentation system for the jury and a personal computer for the judge, along with other miscellaneous equipment; at a total capital equipment cost of $15,000. The Committee worked with Ms. Quinn to make some changes in the budget |

Motion by Bernie Blackmore, supported by Dave Howelman, to approve the amended Circuit Court budget and capital improvements for submittal to the Finance Committee, along with exploring whether it is possible to use this years dollars to do some of the capital improvements. Motion carried – unanimous. |
