Sheriff's Department - 911 Center

The Antrim County Sheriff’s Office is looking for dedicated individuals to apply for work at the 9-1-1 Center in Bellaire, MI.  The County is home to five villages and a permanent resident population of 24,000 people in an area of 602 square miles, 21% of which is covered by water.  We dispatch for multiple Fire, Ambulance, and Law Enforcement Agencies who serve the area, including the Sheriff’s Office’s dedicated recreation patrol for snowmobile and boater safety.  In the summer months, Antrim County more than doubles in population due to part time residence and tourism.  Our 9-1-1 operators are expected to answer 9-1-1 calls, non-emergency calls, dispatch the responders, and coordinate emergency events by radio.  The pace and flow of the job will vary greatly depending on the time of year and the day of the week.  Basic requirements to apply are a high school diploma, passing a criminal background check, passing a drug test, and being 18 years of age.  Successful applicants are put through a 21-week on the job training program.  As Antrim County is a smaller center, employees will be expected to be able to act independently and must be able to cover all aspects of emergency telecommunications.  Starting wage is $18.77/hour and conforms to a graduated pay scale with medical and dental benefits and a MERS hybrid pension.  Sick time and vacation are included as part of the contractual benefit package.  Anyone looking for a challenging but rewarding job is welcome to fill out an application.
