Welcome to the Administration & Planning Department!

Day to day activities at the County Administration Office / Planning Department are divided into the Administration and Planner functions and are overseen by the County Administrator. As the top appointed official, the County Administrator is responsible for assisting the Board in the development and implementation of goals, policies, and procedures, to supervise all functions that report to the Board of Commissioners, and to generally oversee the daily activities of the County. The County Administrator and support staff provide professional support, project management, and are responsible for the communication of Board-generated information to County employees, elected officials, the public and outside agencies. Additionally, the Administrator oversees the running of twelve departments, is responsible for ensuring contracted departments and programs - including the Antrim County Housing Program, Office of the Medical Examiner, and the Antrim County recycling program - are run in a manner that best serves the citizenry. The Administrator's goal is to ensure that all county departments work together to provide the best possible service to the residents of Antrim County.

On top of the administrative duties of the position, the County Administrator also serves as the County Planning Director. In the capacity of the Planning Director, the Administrator works to advise the Antrim County Planning Commission in their statutory duties. Those duties include development of the county master plan, review of local unit zoning ordinances, and reviewing applications for the Farmland Preservation Program. Additional planner functions include model ordinance development, grant administration, materials management planning, and recreation planning.

Administration Office staff also serve as logistical support to the following county committees and boards:
