Meet Our Dive Team
Currently our dive team consist of Sgt. Charlie LaPan
Our Divers are SDI open water certified and train monthly, year-round, in all weather conditions.
By state statute, the Sheriff’s Office is responsible for underwater recovery of drowning victims and evidence collection.
To fulfill statutory obligations, our agency has a specialized dive team trained in emergency marine rescue and body/property recovery.
Our Dive Team is part of Mutual Aid and there are occasions when our dive team is requested to assist neighboring county agencies and the United States Coast Guard through our Mutual Aid Agreement. The purpose for our assistance typically involves search/rescue and recovery operations. In order for our team to be efficient when assisting other agencies, we train with them on a regular basis.
