Hi! I’m Bricko and I’m a K-9 Lieutenant at the Antrim County Sheriff’s Office and My handler is Sgt. Skyler Skrobecki.

K9 Bricko is a male German shepherd and was born 09/03/2017. K9 Bricko was obtained from Lucas K9 in Poland. Shortly after being selected as a candidate for law enforcement canine work, K9 Bricko was imported from Poland to the United States to begin training.

Upon arrival in the United States, K9 Bricko came to work for the Antrim County Sheriff’s Office in September of 2018 and was paired with his handler Sgt. Skyler Skrobecki. Sgt. Skrobecki and K9 Bricko attended a five week training course through Mid-Michigan Police K9 in Eaton Rapids, MI. Upon completion, they began working in patrol starting in October of 2018.

K9 Bricko is trained to conduct:Bricko

-Narcotics detection
-Tracking (suspects and endangered persons)
-Evidence recovery/article search
-Building search
-Suspect apprehension
-Handler protection
-Obedience   




K9 Bricko and Sgt. Skrobecki are scheduled 24 hours a month, at a minimum, to train and maintain their skills in an effort to provide Antrim County and its resident’s the very best service in the area of law enforcement canine deployments. K9 Bricko also certifies yearly in all areas of his training and is currently certified through the International Police Work Dog Association (IPWDA).

Fund’s to begin the Antrim County Sheriff’s Canine team were obtained through the generosity of the Grand Traverse Community Foundation. K9 Bricko has proven to be and exceptional asset to the Antrim County Sheriff’s Office and has been extremely successful in deploying in the field.

Following the ranking structure of the military, K9 Bricko always holds an honorary rank above his handler. Upon Sgt. Skrobecki’ s promotion to sergeant in January of 2023, K9 Bricko now holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant. The purpose of K9’s outranking their handler is to ensure their proper care and to acknowledge their attributes to each mission in which they are deployed. It is also to acknowledge their selfless devotion to their communities and to their handler as they are guardians of all who they serve.
